New Class-New Learning Team Week 1-Days 1-7
This class is dealing with management and management process. I have found it to be interesting but a lot of work. There are 2 weekly questions to answer then 4 days out of the 7 day week there are at least 2 posts that you have to make. Along with that there is again a learning team process. New class, new people. Of course five people assigned and first week one is gone. It is myself and 3 other people. This time all males. They are precise, concise, get it done, and let's get it over with. No problem. Hopefully this will be better but do not think I will ever like Team Learning. I think it may just be a process the school needs to show more work completed in a five weed period. Oh yes prices just went up again so now we have a 3 hour credit (5 week class) costing $1740.00. Hmmm I guess all that advertising they are doing is costing them big bucks. Off to write 2 more papers before this week is up. Monday comes fast.
First Class Completed-Yeah
Week 4-Day 6&7, Week 5-Days 1-7
What a busy two weeks. They have flown by. Well final Learning Team Paper was posted but let me tell you. Team Member 2 chose not to participate. Team Member 1 and I had completed the paper by Week 5-Day 3. I had edited the paper ran it through the WritePoint and Tutor Review. I posted a copy so both team members could approve it. Team Member 1 approved. I went over it again on Friday and send it out to both members as the final copy. Saturday morning (Paper is due on Monday) this person (who has not been heard from this entire week) chose to rewrite the paper. Stating it was all wrong and if we chose to send it in she would sabotage our work and send in her own version. I am sure I do not have high blood pressure because it would have popped its top by this time. Saturday morning 6:30 a.m. we begin our conversations by emails. I ask simply what ever changes you make please highlight them and then I will place them in the completed copy that I have. Also prior to sending them to me (it was apparent from the first set of changes) that it needed to be sent through WritePoint. She was putting back in the "to be", "has been", etc phrases that I had already spent over a week taking out of the document. She would send me a document stating that it had been sent through the WritePoint. I would run it through and it had not been ran through previously or changed. So she was not honest. She continued this until I finally made use of a few of the words she wanted to use. One or two lines. Showed her the changes. She was happy. Ran everything thorough WritePoint, made corrections and posted paper. We received 20 points out of 20 points and my ending grade was 92% (A-). Oh well it was an A. I guess I have to accept it. It would have been a A+ if I had not been sabotaged by the "Team Learning Group" process. I am paying over $1700 for 3 hour class and someone else that I don't know has the power to sabotage my grade. That is totally not the way it should be in my book but I'm stuck now.

Week 4-Day 5
After all of the meeting time setting, and trying to get everyone together it has not seemed to work. I guess I am going to have to learn how to create a positive work environment so that I can get some results or maybe I will just need to be with students who are really serious about continuing their education to the highest degree. I have completed my part but if I have nothing from the other two Team Members by Monday night I think I will just finish the paper and put a draft up and see if they will accept it.
I also have 3 BPO's that came in yesterday and I need to complete by Tuesday. I have a individual paper to complete. My head is hurting.

Week 4-Day 4
Very little response from my Team Members. Had try to set up a time for all of us to have a draft done on our part of the paper. The time was May 20 at 7:30 p.m. Mine is there. Have had no posts from Team Member 1 and a hurried e-mail to personnel e-mail from Team Member 2 stating she was really busy and was working on it???? what ever that means. No results so far.
On another note some of the postings I have been making are surprising to me. I am going to include a few of the ones that I have made in the last few days.
Post-On Child Discipline
Being raised by parents who had been taught "Spare the Rod, Spoil the Child," I begin to emulate that thinking in the early raising of my children. I continued with this type of thinking for the first few years of my children's lives. Yet, always in the back of my mind and from my personal past experiences with the "rod", I always wondered if I was not teaching my children to hit. When my sons were aged four and six I became angry at my oldest son when he was in the bathtub. I reacted and slapped him. The hurt look on his face tore my heart apart. I begin to research and read everything I could get my hands on in the realm of disciplining children. The best that I found was the "One-Minute Mother" written by Dr. Spencer Johnson. (He also authored One-Minute Father and One-Minute Manager). In this series of books Dr. Johnson basically states that we should use one-minute goal setting, one-minute praising, and one-minute reprimands. The biggest suggestion that I believe should be the goal of all mothers’, fathers’, and managers’ is the concept of: Looking for what the child or subordinate is DOING RIGHT. History shows that almost everyone begins life by being disciplined on what we are doing wrong with little or no praise for what we are doing right. I also learned from other books that I read about “time-outs” and family discipline goal setting which included an agreed upon discipline from a stated action or non-action. That one moment in my life changed the way that I dealt with discipline of my children forever.
Post-Bias or "Peter Principle"
There does seem to be a bias in the “real world” in hiring and promotions. It seems that it is “who you know” and not “what you know” in many situations. You can be glad or sad about the study known as the “Peter Principle” completed by Dr. Laurence Johnston Peter on business organizations and management. This concept entails that everyone will eventually be promoted to their level of incompetency. There they will remain forever. It is seldom that someone reaching the higher echelons of management will be demoted. Therefore we have the highest management people who are struggling due to the fact that they are now in an area where they can not succeed. I have always wondered how true this concept is in many of the businesses of the “real world.”
Post-Prior to Marriage-12 Month Relationship and Questions to be Asked
The pros and cons list should always be used when contemplating marriage. This is bringing up a pet peeve that I have had for many years. Many people may feel that it is a hard-core or cold approach but with the large number of divorces I really do not feel that it is. People will spend many months or a year or two doing research, making lists (pro and con), and do heart searching when they decide to buy a house or an automobile. Rarely is this done when choosing a mate. I have angered many of my nieces, nephews, grand children, and friends when I begin to ask questions about the chosen mate they are so “In Love With and Going to Wed.” These questions are simple ones. What does the mate think about having children? How many children does the mate want? What type of employment does the mate plan on having? Is the mate compatible with your religious beliefs? Has the mate introduced other family members? Does your mate use alcoholic beverages to the extreme? Does your mate anger easily? Does your mate react physically when angered? If this is true love will it last over a twelve month relationship? I always caution that a relationship should be for at least a year. With the answer to these few questions I believe that many marriages would not have been completed so therefore the divorce percentages would be lower.
Oh and Happy Birthday to Me. Both my sons have called already. Thank you sons for remembering.

Week 4-Day 3
I have sent a draft of my paragraph for the final paper needed for Team Learning, The Title Page, and the Reference Page to Team Members 1 & 2. Have seen no posts from Team Member 1 for over two days in the Team posting area. I have heard from Team Member 2 who has stated she is in the process of buying a home, her home computer doesn't work well, and she is working on the school assignments at work. Light bulb folks there are only 3 of us.
Have started on my individual assignment and posted 3 posts on the 18th, and 19th. Posted Week 4-DQ 2 on the 20th. Need to post at least 3 posts on two of the next four days. Funding has reached the shcool on the 13th and 14th. Should receive funds for living expenses within 10 days of receipt (I hope). Expenses getting a little tight.

Week 4-Day 2
Most of my day was spent in witing papers. I completed the Weed 4-Day 2 question. I narrowed down the information for the Learning Team Paper and sent out copies to Team Members 1 and 2 for their feed back. I also started work on the individual assignment due on day 7. Been a busy day. More tomorrow.

Week 4-Day 1
New assignments come out each week. You have a set of two questions placed on the site by the instructor and then you need to participate (post threads) to other class members posts. It is an interesting concept and I am learning it. But today I feel quite stupid. I had ask the instructor several questions for my Learning Team. Instead of posting I ask her in my individual posting area. When she answered I posted the questions and answers on the main posting for my Learning Team. I was corrected on this. I can understand that the individual post is a posting between you and the instructor and only you and the instructor. If you have questions that refer to all then you post them in the general threads. My first class and I already feel totally inadequate. I was able to come up with a thesis statement from my interaction with one of the Learning Team members so maybe we will get 100% on this Learning Team assignment and it will bring our grade up. I know at least two of us are working hard to see this happen. Now off to answer Week 4-DQ 1 and do some "participation" posting. (Some ME time tomorrow-My favorite game room Canasta on Pogo.com).
